I guess time really does fly by when you’re having fun

I cannot believe how fast the weeks have been flying by.  I have always thought the fall semester flies by and the spring semester crawls by.  I cannot believe on this coming Tuesday my sisters will be celebrating their birthdays.  Manda will be 18 and Steph will be…I better not say. :)

Anyways, I feel like I have accomplished some things today.   I really wanted to take a nap today, but when I laid down after lunch, my mind was racing with things that needed to be done.  After about 45 minutes, I got up and got started.  The first thing I did was call ______________ to check on Manda’s birthday present.  I know she is going to love it.  I also called a lady here in Arkadelphia about observation hours for a class.  Well that didn’t go to good.  The lady misunderstood me and told me that I didn’t need to talk to her.  So I called my teacher and talked to her about it.  She is going to fix the situation for me.

At school today, I had test first thing this morning.  I made an A.  I know already not because she put it online but because she has a “texting plan”.  If you give her your phone number, she will text you your grade when she has it graded.  I started studying for this test on Tuesday by doodling on the side of some paper.

After my test, I met up with Steph to get my new book.  In my family resource management class, we have to read a book and write a summary about it.  When I was trying to come up with a book I ran across the Duggar’s new book.  I couldn’t think of a better book for a class about family resource management.  I had to meet up with Steph because I ordered it from Target and for some odd reason, I had it mailed to my dad’s address instead of mine.  So I had Steph bring it to me today.  Maybe I will start reading it this weekend.

2Some people get so irritated when talking about this family, but I think they are fascinating.  Michelle Duggar is such a soft spoken woman and seems so sweet.  Needless to say, I am looking forward to reading the book.  Maybe someday, since I live in Arkansas, I might run into them somewhere.

Have you ever thought if you were stuck in a foreign city with no phone, money, or car and a kind stranger let you make a phone call, who you would call to come get you?  If you couldn’t call a family member do you have a friend that would come get you or would you be stuck?  In my family resource class today, the teacher brought up this question.  She was telling us that the friendships we have are a resource.  I thought about it for a little bit and I do think that I have some friends that would come get me.  I am so thankful for those friendships and I don’t see them going anywhere soon.  I know my family would come get me but friends are always a different thing.

This weekend, I am looking forward to doing some crafts.  I am going to try and make fall wreath, some wall decor for my bedroom, and maybe a little something-something for Manda’s birthday.  Wish me luck.

Tomorrow’s Friday ya’ll!!!!!

Monday Madness (with LOTS of pictures)

So it’s Monday again.  YAY!  (That’s sarcasm ya’ll)  Luckily, it’s almost over.  I haven’t been very productive today.  I went to class, came home, took a nap, and then went to Wal*Mart.  Now I am online, ignoring the calls coming from my books.  Last week flew by, and I didn’t do much.  I had two tests, got my hair trimmed, and eyebrows waxed (…and boy they needed it.)

Mena’s homecoming was Friday and Manda looked GORGEOUS!!!  Honestly, she had the best looking dress.  She didn’t get queen, and I think I was more upset than she was.  Now for some pictures…

Her she is ready for all the group photos.  Of course, she would wear her cowboy boots.

But she wasn’t the only one to wear boots.

I told you she was GORGEOUS!!!!

Here are some of the group photos.

Overall, homecoming was a lot of fun.  It was an honor for Manda to even be nominated.  I was so proud of her and she looked beautiful.

I went home on Sunday morning because Tyler was going to be there.  When I got back to the apartment, we decided to go eat and do a little shopping.  We finally have a little patio and we needed some chairs and a table.  We found these at Wal*Mart.  Next spring I will buy a potted plant or two and some sort of mosquito repellant.  I hate the little boogers but they seem to love me.  We also had some time and decided to hang up some pictures.

Monday Madness

  • First off, I think I have had a very productive Monday.  I have organized ALL 3 closets in the apartment, been to Wal*Mart {always an achievement :) }, made dinner, and worked on some school stuff.  YAY me!!!
  • This is the week of Mena’s homecoming.  This weekend, I worked with Manda and Macen to make Manda’s homecoming parade posters.  They turned out really great.  I drew on the letters, and Manda painted them.  Macen sketched on the crown, bearcat, and paw print {he is an amazing artist}.  I had the idea of putting on the ribbon border, but Manda put it on.

  • Last night, I was laying in bed listening to the storm.  Then, out of no where, there was a big crashing sound.  The umbrella on the table outside blew off, came over the pool fence, and blew into the apartment wall.  It scared me pretty good, but once I realized what it was I just laughed to myself.  The umbrella is at the bottom of the picture.  It was dark and hard to get a good picture.

  • I didn’t mention this last week, but last Tuesday marked a year of blogging.  I wanted to write a special blog about what I learned in a year, but I just got to busy.
  • It was a pretty CRAZY week last week.  I had 2 tests {which I made A’s on :) }, 1 big project, and an article summary due.  I was pretty much glued to my kitchen table last week.  To top it off, I was still trying to organize the apartment and remember where everything was.
  • I am pretty excited tonight because this is the start of premiere week.  My favorite shows are coming back.  This includes How I Met Your Mother, 2 1/2 Men, Big Bang Theory, and Grey’s Anatomy just to name few.  I know I watch too much tv, but I just can’t help it.
  • I mentioned that this is Mena’s homecoming, well tonight was the homecoming parade.  This is Manda before the parade.  I wasn’t there but thanks to smart phones I got a picture.

  • I think I have mentioned this before, but I LLLLLLOOOOOOVVVVEEEE Pinterest.  It is amazing.  This is where I got my recipe for dinner tonight.  I also got a recipe for a “Kitty Chow.”  It is supposed to be low calorie version of “Puppy Chow.”  However, when I was buying the ingredients tonight I had to buy some of the “real” stuff.  My Wal*Mart didn’t have all the low-fat ingredients.  I will keep you posted on if it turns out good.
  • Speaking of Pinterest, I cannot wait to go to Hobby Lobby to buy some stuff for some fun crafts.  I have also got some great ideas for my sister’s upcoming 18th birthday.
  • Happy Monday!!!!

Brain Dump

We are finally moved into our new apartment, but not yet settled.  Tyler and I are very happy with our decision and have enjoyed the last few days.  I feel very comfortable here and like that there is a pool and walking trail right outside.

I took this picture on Sunday and sent it to my dad.  He is a very organized person and I knew this would freak him out.  :)  He is a little OCD, and I am constantly trying to bug him out about it.

Tomorrow, I have my first test in business stats and meal management.  I am a little nervous about them both.  If had to pick a hard class these two are tied for first place.  In meal management, the teacher doesn’t use a book so I have like 100 pages of notes to go through.  In my business stats class, I have a some notes to go through just to review.  It’s just too hard to study for a math test.  I have done very well on the homework and one quiz, but I am afraid I am going to forget it all for the test.

This summer I started a new study technique.  I take my current notes and rewrite them on a blank piece of paper.  I don’t like note-cards, but if I find something extremely important or I have items like vocabulary words, I use them.  However, I was procrastinating studying last night and I started to doodle.

My brain is full of thoughts today, and I can’t keep them organized.  One minute I will be thinking about my dog and the next I am thinking about homecoming.  School is also squeezing in there too.

I just got my internet and cable installed and I am so thankful for that.  I am seriously addicted to technology. :)

Pies and Packing

I realized, after I published my last blog, that I didn’t mention Labor Day weekend.  It wasn’t very exciting but a nice break.  I spent Saturday-Monday in Mena.  Tyler and I spent the weekend hanging out with family.  On Sunday, we had a cook-out with my family, and on Monday, we spent the day with Tyler’s family.  I found a recipe for a cookies and creme brownie pie on Pinterest, and I had been looking for a reason to make it.  Finally, I got the chance to make it.  It was pretty easy to make, but it was nothing like I thought it would be.  Don’t get me wrong…It was good.  How could it not be when the top is covered with chocolate chips?  :)  It just wasn’t what I had in mind.

I have mentioned that we are moving into a new apartment, and because of this I am on the edge of a nervous break down.  I have discovered this week that I am the world’s worst at multitasking but excellent at procrastinating.  I am so stressed out about school, moving, and doing both of them at the same time.  Tuesday was definitely the worst day of all.  We hadn’t got the power, water, renter’s insurance, and cable switched over, and there were boxes EVERYWHERE.  Some of the boxes were empty, some half-full, and some completely packed up.  Needless to say, I cried a couple times, but every time I packed a box I felt a little better.  I guess I just needed some packing therapy.  :)  Shopping therapy usually works better though.  I am so ready to be moved and not living out of boxes.

Last Week

Ok so here I am procrastinating my homework.  I was doing so good.  :)  I just needed a little “me” time to document my happenings before studying for my first test of the semester.

Last Tuesday, I got to spend some quality time with my little man.  His parents were at school ,and the grandparents were on a mini-vacation.  Anyways, I don’t have any toys for him here, but since I am getting ready to move, I did have an empty box.  He LOVED the box.  He is at such a fun age, I love watching his facial expressions.  I tried to get some on camera.  Of course, these are all Iphone pics and are pretty blurry, but you can still tell that he is CUTE.

On Thursday of last week, I took a road trip to Conway for the HSU game.  I went with a good friend from college because her boyfriend plays on the team.  We had a really fun time, but it made for a LONG night and morning came WWWWAAAAAYYYYY too early the next day.  The football field at Conway is purple and grey.  It was really neat.  I like that football season is here.  It is probably my favorite sports season.  I actually really do enjoying watching some football.

4 5 Some exciting news…

Manda made homecoming court this year.  YAY!!!  She is so excited and calls me regularly to keep me informed.  We will be going dress shopping soon to get her white ball gown.  She is going be so pretty.

Well, I think I have procrastinated enough for one day, and I know that in a couple of hours I will be flipping through the channels and watching Big Brother.
