Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!!

Well, I definitely had a great weekend.  Tyler and I left out Thursday for Mena.  He had to do some work before hand which meant we had to drive from Arkadelphia, to Shreveport, then to Broken Bow, and finally Mena.  It was a very long day of driving but we had a good day.  Friday, I got to try my hand at gardening.  I spent the day with my momma, and we decided Friday morning to re-do a flower garden that had been forgotten about for many years.  We went to the store and picked out flowers, but when we got home, I had full reign on the planting.  I was very proud of how it turned out.  However, when we were picking out flowers, we never looked at the little directions label they come with. So I don’t know if some need more sun or water than others.  They will all be treated equal.  Momma and I just picked out what we thought were pretty.

Here are some before and after shots…

I have also added some concrete frogs that my parents have had forever to the little garden.  However, I found and added them after I finished taking the photos.  On Saturday, I visited with my Grandma and Grandpa Rogers.  They came to Mena for a High School Reunion.  (I forgot to take pictures of their visit.)  After they left, Tyler and I spent the day lolly-gagging around.  We went around to some shops and looked at the Memorial Day sales.  Later in the day we got some slushies from Cruizzer’s.  I always get grape, and it always turns my tongue purple.  We brought our slushies over to Tyler’s parents’ house and enjoyed them outside in the sitting area.  It was so nice.  I am not sure if I have ever blogged about our other dogs, but they are beautiful labs.  Shelby is the blonde lab.  I picked her out, and she is just as stubborn and hard-headed as me.  Buddy is the black lab.  He is a GREAT dog and of course Tyler picked him.

Here are a few photos of that afternoon…

Sunday after church, Tyler decided that he wanted to wash and wax the car.  Since I am a good supervisor, I decided to watch and lay out in the sun.  He did an excellent job!!!!!!  However, by the time he got around to waxing it I had made my way inside to the air conditioning and fell asleep.  I woke up in just enough time to see him put up the stuff.

Here are a few photos of him washing and smiling with the final product…

The rest of the weekend was spent eating.  :)  Yesterday my mom made a feast for Tyler, dad, Manda, Macen, and I.  It was delicious.  We had grilled steaks, baked potatoes, shrimp kabobs, baked beans, rolls, and watermelon for dessert.  I have to say that I had to roll away from the table.  Over all, it was a great weekend.

Tomorrow I start my first summer class.  It is some sort of management class.  I am not sure what it is about or what I will learn.  All I know is that I have to have it.  I hope you all have had a great weekend too.

Thanks to all who serve and have served our country.

My Summer So Far

Well I am here, alive and well.  I have had an exciting summer and it is just getting started.  It has been pretty busy, and since I have not blogged lately, I will do my best to catch you up.  I finished finals, and then I headed to Mena.  Where I had a nice time just chilling.  I changed my name at school after my last final.  When I asked if there would be any problems with my grades they told me no.  Well I waited patiently for my grades to be posted and was shocked when 2 F’s were found.  I have gotten one fixed and am currently working on the other.  I did not fail any of my classes.  I am just trying to get the grades changed before they start affecting more of my scholarships.

Macen graduated this year from Acorn.  We were all so proud him.   I can’t wait to see what is in store for his future.  He is a great guy and has a good head on his shoulders.

I had a lunch date with my girls Kim, Devin, Andrea, and Kate.  It was so nice to see them all.  They all go to UCA and Tech so I don’t see them much.  Devin was graduating and I wanted to buy her lunch.  I told her we could go wherever she wanted and she decided on Simple Simons.  After lunch I rushed to my in-laws to head for a very impromptu trip to Branson.  Steph, Stephen, and Christopher also got to go.  We had so much fun in just a short time.  We stopped by Silver Dollar City and did a lot of shopping!!!

Finally, we celebrated Tyler’s 22nd birthday.  I can’t believe it.  I still have pictures on my camera from his 21st birthday.  We celebrated with his parents first.  Then when had another dinner at my parent’s house.  We both decided that we needed to go on diet after all the unbelievably delicious food we stuffed our faces with.  Tyler loved helping his uncle open his presents.

cookies anyone??

Today was my last day of classes at Henderson.  I was so proud of myself.  I have finals next week, but next Wednesday at noon, it is summer.  I am so excited.  Of course, I am taking summer classes which takes up 8 weeks of my summer.  I will just be glad to know that I have 2 hard classes out of the way.  Yesterday was Cinco de Mayo.  To celebrate, Tyler and I ate TaMolly’s Mexican Restaurant.  It was tasty.  I took this picture while I was waiting on Tyler to get home from work.  P1010886

I took this picture of Daisy yesterday while we were waiting on Tyler to get home.

Today, I was reading some other blogs.  I ran across one blog that had a recipe for Red Velvet Sandwich cookies.  I knew then and there that I had to make some.  However, everything I have been making lately is red velvet, and I wanted to mix it up.  Instead of red velvet, I made chocolate-chip cookie sandwiches.  They were delicious.  However, I was lucky to have enough dough to make all the cookies.  Tyler kept sneaking up behind me and stealing the raw dough.  Anyways, the middle is a cream cheese mix.  P1010896

I don’t know what I am going to do with all this left over cream cheese stuff.

Monday…

I had a pretty good weekend.  I took my last online quiz on Friday.  I was so tired of this class that my quiz grades started showing.  I still have a final but I don’t think it will be too bad.  I got to eat Chiquita’s Friday night and Saturday for lunch.  Tyler and I had been craving Chiquita’s for the past week.  Also on Saturday, I got to play with my one and only awesome nephew Christopher.  He is so darn cute and at an extremely fun age.  Sunday, Tyler and I got up, went to church, ate Papa’s for lunch, played Loaded Questions with the in-laws, and headed back to Arkadelphia.  All in all, it was a good weekend.  The drive home was horrible though.  It rained cats and dogs most of the way home which caused it to take twice as long to get home.  Speaking of rain, it has been raining forever a bunch.

This morning, I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed, got dressed, and went to school.  However, when I got to school there was no power.  I was there for about five minutes and then left after the teacher dismissed the class.  I went home and waited for a text canceling classes for the rest of the day.  I waited and waited and waited.  Since I never got a text at 11, I went back to school to be greeted with no power and class dismissed five minutes later.  I was just little bit irritated at that point.  I never got a text saying electricity was restored or still out, so at 1 I went back to school.  The power was finally back on and I was as ready as possible to take my last microbiology lab exam.

I am sitting on the couch right now waiting to make biscuits and gravy for dinner.  I don’t know what it is but today I have been unable to fill myself.  I have wanted to snack all day.  After dinner, I am going to my last yoga class of the semester.  I am a little sad and excited at the same time.  I haven’t used my camera this past week so I don’t have any pictures to add unfortunately.  I love adding pictures to my blog.  I feel like pictures complete it.

Ending on happy note,  this is my last week of classes and then I have finals next week.  Summer is almost here…

More Storms in Arkansas

So last night, we had another round of storms.  Surprise! Surprise!  Tyler and I had no electricity all night and all of this morning.  That being said,  I had to find ways to entertain myself.  I started off trying my luck at capturing lightening on camera.

This is my first attempt.  I know it looks like a flash but it is really lightening.

P1010865

This was my second shot.  I was pretty proud of it except that it was blurry.

P1010867

Finally, I caught a glimpse of the lightening.  It is really there, and no it is not a scratch or piece of thread.

P1010868Tyler and I sat in our trailer trying to keep safe.  We were ready to run if we needed to, but luckily, it was just a severe thunderstorm.  However, when the storm had mostly passed we still needed some entertainment.

2 bored people + camera + a bright flash = this…

P1010876The lack of electricity this morning did motivate to complete some homework.  I studied for my microbiology lab exam tomorrow and completed a microbiology project.  After I had postponed it long enough, I finally started on my university writing reading assignment.  I am so glad that I only have 2 weeks of school left (mainly because of this class).  YAY!!!!  However, I have a full load of summer classes.  Since our trailer park was the only area without electricity last night (or so it seemed), Tyler and I jumped in his truck, after the big part of the storm had passed, to run up the road to the college parking lot.  I had an online quiz that I needed to complete, and since we had no electricity and no internet we took my books and laptop to a place where we could get WiFi.

Finally, I took this last picture of Daisy and Tyler this morning.  I was finishing up some homework when I turned around to see Daisy placed on her thrown, and Tyler smiling proud.  Daisy is not allowed on the furniture when I am around because she sheds very badly.  However, Tyler loves to put her on the furniture when I am not looking.  I guess it is ok to put her on the furniture if she stays on her pillow.

April Showers Bring…

Well it has been raining storming ALL week which has caused me to have little sleep because of a sweet little dog that is terrified of thunder.  However, I have been able to get more sleep since she has found her new hiding spot.  P1010855 She has discovered the clothes hamper.  I have no idea HOW or WHY she found this spot, but it makes her so much more calm.  In fact, that is where she is right now.  This rain has caused me to be trapped inside and want to eat ALL THE TIME.  It is only 4:20 and I have been thinking about dinner since 2:30.  I am probably going to start some hamburger helper after this post.  The rain has also caused me to miss parts of my favorite shows including Survivor and American Idol.  Last night, I missed Casey kissing Jennifer and who got voted off Survivor.  I had to find the Survivor episode on cbs.com this morning and watch the end.  Luckily, I have a rain boots (thanks Momma Speer) and a half way decent umbrella to help me through all this rain.  I took this picture of my yard this afternoon, and that is a bunch rain.  P1010863 I did not have much else going on today but I mainly wanted to show Daisy’s new hiding spot. LOL.  Enjoy the rain. :)

Wrapping up the weekend…

I have had such a busy couple of weeks and it shows with my lack of blogs.  This week, I am looking forward to the end of Wednesday.  Right now, I am postponing some homework.  I have a microbiology test and three summaries for university writing due Wednesday.  Anyways, my weekend was pretty crazy itself.  I missed micro Friday so that I could make it back to Mena with enough time to fix Manda’s hair for Acorn’s prom.  I had about an hour to fix her hair and makeup.  Since I am SUPER-SISTER, the task was successfully completed.  It was freezing Friday afternoon, so I was lucky that all the pictures I took were not blurry.  I did not take many pictures with my camera but I did grab a few.

P1010845

Saturday was the Speer family Easter and Manda’s second prom.  The Easter celebration was at 1:30 and I had to be fixing Manda’s hair at 2:15.  I didn’t have a lot of time at the Easter celebration so Saturday morning I decided to head over to the Speer house early.  I was really glad I did too.  Something that I hadn’t mentioned earlier was that Tyler was away working and we weren’t even sure if he would be able to make it on Saturday.  However, the sweet husband that he is showed up to surprise me.  And boy did he!!!  I started balling.  Relatives started showing up shortly after that and we eventually got to eat.  I pretty much just swallowed all my food and then zoomed home to pretty Manda up for prom.  Since I wasn’t at the Speer house for all the activities, I didn’t get that many pictures.

Christopher loves riding four-wheelers just as much as he loves his Uncle Bubba.
